Serangoon Secondary School Chinese Orchestra was formed back in 1969 and has been one of the most active performing arts group in our school.

We perform in many school events, namely the Sec. 1 Aesthetic Awareness Programme, Sec 1 Orientation Day, Lunar New Year concert, Speech Day concert, Music camp concert in the June holidays, Racial Harmony Day concert, National Day concert, Assembly concert, School New Campus Official Opening Concert, as well as public concerts.

The students have many opportunities to develop their musical talents and Student musicians are also given many opportunities to develop themselves musically through participation in instrumental master classes conducted by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. Special mention on three students namely, Foo Zhi Yuan, Jason Neo Wee Siang, Joyce Poh Hui Bing, Tan Ming Kwang, who have done the school Orchestra proud by being selected to be members of the Singapore National Youth Training Orchestra (SNYTO) and the Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra (SYCO) respectively. With the continuous support from the school, the Orchestra will aim to reach even higher musical heights in the future years to come.

The Chinese Orchestra also had the experience of merging with our School's Symphonic band to form the Fusion Orchestra and performed in several events such as Our school's 80th Anniversary Grand Dinner 2008, Punggol-Pasir Ris Friendship and Harmony Street Parade Competition 2008,and the Chingay Parade 2009.
